OSPS Return to Practice & Play Protocols

The Old Saybrook Public School District has created a plan to return student athletes to practice and play in the safest manner possible.

The following plan was developed in accordance with:

- The Center for Disease Control (CDC)
- The Governor’s Executive Orders
- The State Board of Education
- The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC)
- The Old Saybrook Board of Education
- The Superintendent of Schools
- The Old Saybrook Pubic Schools District Leadership Team
- The District Medical Director
- Regional Public Health and Local Public Safety Officials

The plan is divided into four (4) phases as defined and described by the CIAC.

- Phase I June 1 to June 30 “High Risk”
o Virtual Participation ONLY

- Phase II July 6 to + (4) Weeks (or August 3) “High Risk – In Person” Practice and Conditioning
o Small group, in person, practice and conditioning with restrictions.
o No spectators. (including parents/guardians)
o Student participation is voluntary.

- Phase III August 3 to + (4) Weeks (or August 31) “Low to Moderate Risk Competition”
o Low/Moderate Risk Competition with restrictions.
o No spectators (including parents/guardians)

- Phase IV August 31 to End of Academic Year “High Risk Competition”
o Low/Moderate/High Risk Competition with restrictions.

We are currently in Extended Phase I.
