OSPS Families School Closure Update #3

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

I hope you are having a good St. Patrick’s Day. I hope you had an opportunity to smile. The following is the update for March 17, 2020.

Technology Loans: Today, we provided laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots for families who indicated they needed them. We still have a few laptops that need to be picked up. Please contact 860-395-3157, extension 3010 if you want to make an appointment to pick up the laptop you requested.

If you haven’t responded to the Opt-Out Food Plan Survey, PLEASE do so tonight. Please click here to opt-out. We don’t want to waste food and want to be sure that we are providing for those who need it. If you need it, please do not complete the survey.

Families have picked up students’ medications. Karen van der Horst has called families who did not come to the schools today.

The plan to deliver breakfast and lunch is in place. We will begin distributing food on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Goodwin School and Old Saybrook High School.

The State of Connecticut is providing new guidance about how to continue learning through technology (distance learning) and other means that is fair and equitable. We are moving ever closer to a formal plan.

Supplemental Learning Continues. Teachers are collecting, disseminating and archiving information at an amazing rate. Meaningful and exciting work is available to students. Some students have been spotted doing the work! Here is one now:

Don’t forget, you can contact us and send questions to our closure email address.
