This is a special concert because we combine all our high school singers to present the Major Works Concert with the Chamber Orchestra. The opportunity to sing a major orchestral work with orchestra is one that most high school students never get. We do it every year. This year, the highlight is the Coronation Anthem, "Zadok the Priest," which has been performed at every English monarch's coronation since 1727. We'll end with the famous "Hallelujah Chorus" by Handel.
This concert will also feature performances of early works by other OS ensembles, including the Flute and Clarinet Choirs, Chamber Singers, and a Cello Duet by Kyela and Graidy McGuire. We'll also have introductions of each piece from students in the UConn Music History class. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $10/person.
